Boilers: Boilers heat water, and hot water can be used for heating your building in several ways:

In-Floor Heating: Water pipes(where hot water runs through) are laid in your floor and produce nice radiant heat in the colder months. Pipes may also be laid under your driveway to melt ice during the winter.
Hot Air: An air handler may be connected to your boiler and heat your building using hot air.
Radiant Heat: Similar to the idea of in-floor heating but the pipes are not laid in the floor, they go in an enclosed metal box typically near a wall's baseboard.

Hot water from boilers may be used domestically as well. Boilers may used in commercial and residential buildings.

Hot Water Tanks: Hot water tanks are tanks that heat and store hot water to be used domestically exclusively. They are smaller than boilers and cost a lot less. Hot water tanks may be replaced with tank-less water heaters. Hot water tanks may be used in commercial and residential buildings.

Tank-less Water Heaters: Tank-less water heaters are much more compact than hot water tanks; they don't store hot water, they heat it on demand. Tank-less water heaters take up small space and are more energy efficient compared to hot water tanks but cost a little more.
