Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had an excellent experience with WeatherFix. Mahmoud and his two assistants arrived on time, worked professionally and efficiently, and paid great attention to every detail. They completed the furnace installation quickly, kept everything clean, and made sure to clean up thoroughly after the job.

The price was also very competitive—lower than most of the other companies I contacted—and they offered a longer labour warranty, which gave me additional peace of mind.

I highly recommend WeatherFix to anyone looking for professional, reliable, and reasonably priced HVAC service. Thank you, Mahmoud and team, for the excellent work!

Signs You Need a New Central Air Conditioner in Ottawa

Not sure if it’s time to repair or replace? Here are the clearest warning signs your Ottawa home needs a new central AC installation:

Your AC is 12–15 years old

Aging units lose efficiency rapidly and cost significantly more to run through Ottawa’s humid summers.

Energy bills are climbing

An inefficient system works harder without delivering better comfort, driving up your monthly hydro bill.

Uneven cooling between rooms

Hot spots and stuffy bedrooms signal a system that’s undersized or failing.

Frequent repairs every season

Repeated service calls almost always mean a new installation delivers better long-term value than ongoing fixes.

Short-cycling

A unit turning on and off rapidly is either incorrectly sized or nearing end of life.

Excessive indoor humidity

A properly working central AC dehumidifies your home. Muggy air despite running the AC means the system is no longer performing.

Central Air Conditioner Installation Ottawa — Our 6-Step Process

Every central air conditioner installation Ottawa project at WeatherFix follows a proven six-step process built for safety, efficiency, and peak summer performance.

We evaluate your Ottawa home’s square footage, insulation, window orientation, and ductwork condition, then perform a Manual J load calculation to determine the exact cooling capacity required. Correct sizing eliminates the two most common AC failures — short-cycling and inadequate humidity control.

Call Us

We recommend the right central air conditioner matched to your home, budget, and Ottawa’s climate. For most Ottawa homes, a 16–17 SEER two-stage unit delivers the best balance of efficiency and upfront cost given the city’s 3–4 month cooling season.

Leaky or poorly sealed ducts waste 15–25% of your cooling energy before air reaches your rooms. We inspect and test all ductwork before closing up — no surprises on installation day. Need heating covered too? Learn more about our AC condenser unit installation in Ottawa.

The cost of central air conditioner installation Ottawa homeowners pay in 2026 typically falls between $3,800 and $7,500, depending on:

System size (tonnage) — Most Ottawa homes need 2 to 3.5 tons. Larger homes require bigger units, increasing equipment cost.

Frequently Asked Questions — Central Air Conditioner Installation Ottawa

How much does central air conditioner installation cost in Ottawa?

In 2026, central air conditioner installation in Ottawa typically costs between $3,800 and $7,500, depending on system size, SEER rating, and installation complexity. Two-stage systems in the $5,000–$6,500 range are the most popular choice. WeatherFix provides itemized quotes with no hidden fees.

What size central air conditioner do I need for my Ottawa home?

Most Ottawa homes require 2 to 3.5 tons of cooling capacity. The correct size depends on square footage, insulation, ceiling height, and window orientation. WeatherFix performs a precise Manual J load calculation on every installation — never a rough estimate.

What SEER rating is best for Ottawa?

A 16–17 SEER two-stage unit delivers the best value for most Ottawa homes. The city’s 3–4 month cooling season means ultra-high SEER models rarely recoup their premium in energy savings. Variable-speed units at 18–21 SEER are worth the upgrade if quiet operation and humidity control are priorities.

Should I replace my furnace and central AC at the same time?

If your furnace is also aging (15+ years), replacing both at the same time saves on labour, improves efficiency with matched equipment, and may qualify for bundle rebates. Read our guide on how to choose the right heating and air conditioning system in Ottawa before you decide.
